Winter Skincare Must Haves

As the weather is starting to cool down… well not too cool here in Florida, you may notice some changes to your skin texture or complexion. It is important to establish your baseline skincare products for each season. Your skin in the summer is going to have drastically different needs than your skin in the winter. Here are some of my must haves when establishing my winter skincare routine.

  1. Hydrating Cleanser: I prefer one with a cream texture that when lathered turns into a more foam consistency. I feel this gives my skin the moisture it needs in the winter, rather than leaving it dry.
  2. Brightening and Hydrating Serum: I gravitate towards one that has Vitamin C in it to give dull skin a bit of a boost in the gray winter months. Serums that contain Vitamin E are also a great addition to the skincare lineup to combat against aging.
  3. Rich Moisturizer: I tend to gravitate toward a thicker moisturizer in the winter months, especially when applying before bedtime. I feel this keeps my skin looking more supple.
  4. SPF: Just because it is no longer summer and you are not spending hours by the pool, does not mean you can neglect your SPF! Do not forget to apply to your lips as well!
  5. Lip Scrub: What else is worse than dry, chapped lips in the winter? I use a lip scrub regularly, followed by a hydrating lip balm or mask to exfoliate off any dry or dead skin caused by the elements.
  6. Hand Lotion: Skincare does not just apply to your face! My hands get so dry in the winter time so I always keep a rich hand cream in my purse to keep my hands moisturized.
  7. Body Scrub: Similar to the lip scrub, I use a body scrub to combat areas of my body that tend to get dry skin like the elbows, knees, etc.
  8. Body Lotion: A body butter or something thicker in consistency is perfect for this time of year and I use it on a daily basis. One with added collagen or an agent to aid in skin elasticity is an added bonus!
  9. Hair Oil: Do not neglect your scalp and ends of your hair in the winter either! The harsh weather can be tough on your hair and it may need some added moisture as well! Argan oil for your ends is always a great choice!
  10. Hair Mask: A hair mask can be kept in overnight or just a few minutes before showering. It adds moisture, shine, protects your hair, and smooths it from the static and frizz that the winter can bring.

These are some of my non-negotiables in order to stay looking and feeling confident all throughout the winter! I hope you add some of these products into your winter rotation, so you can feel your best this winter!
